New Business in Scio Township Combines Pizza and Golf

Hometown Pizza & Under Par Simulators

A new business is coming to the Dexter/Ann Arbor area, offering a unique mix of pizza and golf. The venture, called Hometown Pizza & Under Par Simulators, will be located in Scio Township at 5060 Jackson Road, Suite G, near the intersection of Zeeb and Jackson roads.

The business is owned by Alex Willnow and Hunter Comstock, who shared details about their new project. Willnow explained that their pizza is freshly made daily with locally sourced ingredients. They pride themselves on using 100% mozzarella cheese that is shredded in-house, setting them apart from traditional chain pizza places that often use pre-shredded or frozen cheese.

In addition to pizza, the menu includes subs, calzones, wings, salads, and breadsticks. The front of the location will serve as a take-out and delivery area, while the back will feature three golf simulators. These simulators will offer a comfortable setting with bar-style seating, televisions, and a welcoming atmosphere for customers to enjoy golfing with friends and family.

Willnow and Comstock have worked to provide high-quality golf simulators at an affordable price. By using their pizza side staff to help run the golf portion, they can keep labor costs low and pass the savings onto customers. Willnow mentioned that their simulators attract visitors from as far as Toledo and Jackson.

Willnow brings valuable experience to the venture, having worked in the golf industry for ten years, including serving as the Head Golf Professional at Hills of Lenawee (formerly Lenawee Country Club). After working for a friend at Midway Market/Hometown Pizza, he purchased the business in 2020 and later added golf simulators, launching Under Par Simulators.

Comstock, who began working with Willnow in 2020, quickly developed an interest in owning a business. He played a key role in starting Under Par Simulators and will eventually become the primary owner of the new Scio Township location.

Though they have not finalized an opening date, Willnow and Comstock hope to open in December. The golf simulators will not be available until later in the summer, as construction on that part of the business is just starting.

A big part of their mission is to integrate into the community. They plan to sponsor local schools, starting with Dexter, and offer discounts to school faculty and staff. They also aim to provide special pricing for local businesses looking to host staff lunches or events.

“We are looking to truly become a part of the community,” Willnow said.
