Nicko’s Pizza, a local favorite, is recovering from significant damage caused by recent hurricanes. The storms left the restaurant with $75,000 worth of damage and left the building under two feet of water. While repairs continue, co-owners Nick and Erin are keeping the business alive by serving a simplified menu from the parking lot, Tuesday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Despite the temporary setup with a cook tent, the iconic “I Love Pizza” mural on the restaurant’s wall stands tall, symbolizing the restaurant’s resilience. Erin handles orders while Nick grills up familiar favorites, ensuring customers can still enjoy a taste of Nicko’s hospitality.
The restoration process is expected to be completed in about three weeks, with plans to fully reopen the restaurant in January or February.
In the meantime, the menu varies based on ingredient availability, but current options include:
- Italian sausage
- Grilled cheese
- Cheesesteaks
- Hot dogs
- Turkey and Italian subs
While pizza lovers will have to wait for the full reopening, these comforting dishes are keeping customers satisfied.
