Papa John’s Pizza of Central Virginia is teaming up with the Blue Star Mothers of America (Central Virginia Chapter) to distribute free pizzas to military members returning home for the holidays. The event will take place on December 17 and 18 at the Richmond International Airport, with support from the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia.
This is the ninth year Papa John’s has participated in the event, providing up to 4,000 pizzas for troops returning from Fort Gregg-Adams. The pizzas, valued at more than $30,000, will be donated by Papa John’s International from its commissary in Garner, N.C. The Papa John’s location on South Laburnum Avenue will prepare all the food for distribution at the airport. Local employees will be paid by the store’s owners for their work during the event.
Amy Buckner, area supervisor for Papa John’s, said, “The store team and I are honored to be part of this important event to thank our troops and wish them well as they head home for the holidays.”
