More than 1,700 frozen pizzas from Connie’s Pizza have been recalled due to concerns about potential plastic contamination. The recall affects 1,728 units of Connie’s Thin Crust Cheese Frozen Pizzas, which were sold in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
The recall, issued by Palermo Villa, Inc., the Milwaukee-based parent company of Connie’s Pizza, was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on December 13. The affected pizzas, with an expiration date of November 27, are no longer available for sale.
The recall was issued as a precautionary measure, as some pizzas may still be in consumers’ freezers. “This recall alert is being issued out of an abundance of caution,” the notice stated. The affected products are identified by item number 19104 and lot number MR199856.
Consumers who purchased the recalled pizzas should either dispose of them or return them to the store for a refund. No illnesses have been reported, according to the FDA.
Connie’s Pizza, known for its Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and Italian dishes, is one of several brands owned by Palermo Villa. Other brands under its umbrella include Screamin’ Sicilian, Urban Pie, and Surfer Boy Pizza.
