Marco’s Pizza has permanently closed its Peoria location at 708 W. Glen Ave., with a “Permanently Closed” sign posted on the door. The store no longer appears on the company’s location finder. The nearest Marco’s Pizza locations are now in Davenport, Iowa; Bartlett, Illinois; and Homewood, Illinois.
Google Maps indicates that the Davenport location is over 100 miles from Peoria. The Homewood store is at least 145 miles away, while the Bartlett location is between 152 and 172 miles, depending on the route.
In addition to Peoria, Marco’s Pizza also closed its locations in Bloomington and Springfield. All three stores were owned by the Hoogland Restaurant Group.
McLain Hoogland, president of the group, told The Pantagraph that the closures were caused by weak sales and the planned increase in Illinois’ minimum wage. Starting January 1, 2025, the state’s minimum wage will rise from $14 to $15 per hour.
