North Saddle Creek Road is set for major improvements, with a $5.8 million streetscape project in the works for the coming year. The project aims to revitalize the business district with new landscaping, curbing, streets, lighting, and pedestrian-friendly features, including a 10-foot bike and pedestrian lane stretching from Northwest Radial to the traffic circle.
Though construction is still a few months away, Omaha City Council President Pete Festersen sees the announcement of Tasty Pizza moving into the area as a positive sign for the neighborhood’s growth.
“They have owned property here for some time, even before the business improvement district was established. We knew they had plans, but it’s encouraging to see those plans come to life as we work on the streetscape,” Festersen said.
Tasty Pizza will take over the current industrial site, and Festersen expects the restaurant’s opening to align with the streetscape project, likely in late summer or early fall.
Construction for the streetscape is scheduled to begin this spring, with bidding for construction contracts already underway.
