Anna and Jeff Fox, a couple from Corte Madera, have launched Fox Pizza, a mobile pizzeria that aims to bring naturally leavened sourdough pizzas to the Bay Area through pop-up events.
Jeff Fox, who has spent years perfecting his pizza recipe, combines techniques from both New York and New Haven-style pizzas. His pizzas feature a thin crust with a slightly fluffy texture, caramelized edges, and creative toppings.
The base of each pizza is a seven-year-old sourdough starter, which Jeff feeds twice daily. He pairs this starter with organic flour from Petaluma’s Central Milling. Some popular toppings include hot pepperoni with pickled jalapeños, rosemary potatoes drizzled with house-infused olive oil, and a “tie-dye” pizza with swirled tomato sauce and homemade walnut-pistachio pesto.
“We have the classics, plus something for adventurous eaters,” says Jeff Fox. Each pizza is served with his signature herby ranch dressing.
Inspired by chefs like Gabriele Bonci and Portland’s Lovely’s Fifty Fifty, Jeff incorporates seasonal farmers market produce into his pizzas and sometimes adds a Mexican twist with ingredients like cilantro and jalapeños.
You can find Fox Pizza at scheduled weekend pop-ups in Novato, including HenHouse Brewing Co. and Adobe Creek Brewing, as well as at the Novato and Fairfax seasonal evening farmers markets this spring. The couple also offers catering services for private events across the Bay Area, with customizable menus that go beyond pizza to include salads, appetizers, and grazing boards.
Currently balancing day jobs, the newlyweds are working to build their reputation for quality pizza. They hope to one day open a brick-and-mortar location in Marin. “We’re passionate about connecting with the community,” says Anna Fox. “When we open our doors, we want it to be a place where people gather and small businesses can collaborate.”
