BC Ferries has announced plans for a new dining experience, set to open this summer.
The new lounge, named Seascapes, will be located in the former Pacific Buffet space on the two Spirit class vessels. A $6 entry fee will be required to access the lounge.
Seascapes will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with unlimited coffee, tea, and fountain drinks. Local beer, wine, and non-alcoholic craft beverages will also be available for purchase separately.
The Pacific Buffet service ended during the pandemic and was never reinstated. BC Ferries reported that the buffet attracted less than 9% of passengers on the Tsawwassen–Swartz Bay route in its final year, resulting in a loss of $1.2 million annually.
BC Ferries expects Seascapes to be a profitable venture, projecting annual revenue of $1.3 million to help support the company’s operational costs. If successful, the concept may be expanded to the Coastal Celebration.
