Pizza Pilgrims, the popular UK-based pizza chain, is expanding its reach by opening its first restaurant in Scotland. Known for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas and lively, fun dining atmosphere, the new venue will be located on Rose Street in the heart of Edinburgh.
Founded in 2012 by brothers James and Thom Elliot, Pizza Pilgrims has grown into a beloved brand with 25 locations across the UK. The chain has earned a reputation for serving high-quality, affordable Italian dishes, offering a range of toppings, sides, and a unique selection of pizzas.
The Edinburgh location is set to make a splash with its soft-launch week starting on April 7, where food and cocktails will be available at half-price. Additionally, on Thursday, April 10, 1,000 free slices will be handed out starting at 12 pm to celebrate the grand opening. The venue will also offer exclusive pizza masterclasses throughout the soft launch, giving guests the chance to learn how to craft their own delicious pizzas.
The new restaurant will feature a variety of classic and creative pizza options, such as the traditional Margherita, the crowd-pleasing Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey, and the quirky Carbonara pizza, topped with al dente spaghetti strands. The vibrant new venue, spread across two floors, will have 191 covers and a 45-seat outdoor terrace, ideal for the rare sunny days in Scotland.
The interior design is inspired by the lively spirit of Naples, with bold colors and an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work. The upstairs space draws inspiration from the lemon groves of Southern Italy, with a design that evokes the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. The upper floor will also feature a dedicated event area for private dining, cocktail-fueled pub quizzes, and hands-on pizza masterclasses.
The venue will host a range of fun events, from live music and comedy nights to drag performances, offering a true party destination. The Dough It Yourself sessions will allow groups of 10 to 60 guests to get hands-on in the bespoke masterclass kitchen, complete with its own pizza oven.
Founders Thom and James Elliot shared their excitement about the opening, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited to finally bring Pizza Pilgrims to Edinburgh. Rose Street is packed with incredible bars and restaurants, and we’re looking forward to becoming part of such a buzzing hospitality scene. This is our largest opening outside of London, with a space that can do it all. From pizza masterclasses, private events, group dining, and a stage, we want to support Edinburgh’s thriving entertainment scene!”
Pizza Pilgrims is set to be a welcome addition to Edinburgh’s bustling food scene, offering delicious pizzas, fun events, and a lively atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re there for a meal, a pizza-making class, or a night of entertainment, this new venue is sure to become a local favorite.
