The search for the best pizza in Lee County continues as the competition heats up. Voting for the Elite Eight in the ongoing pizza tournament is now open, running from Monday, March 17 (coincidentally, St. Patrick’s Day), until noon on Thursday, March 20.
Following the closure of Sweet 16 voting on March 13, several suspicious voting patterns were identified. Multiple votes from the same IP addresses were submitted in quick succession, leading to a few extra steps being added to the voting process. To ensure fairness, only one vote per IP address (each device has its unique IP) will be allowed. Any suspicious votes will be flagged and removed.
As for the tournament itself, there were some surprising upsets in the Sweet 16. Second-seeded Goombah and third-seeded Nice Guys, both based in Cape Coral, were eliminated by the No. 15 and No. 14 seeds, respectively. Meanwhile, top-seeded Uncle Rico’s and fourth-seeded Little Sicily—two Fort Myers pizzerias—have advanced to the Elite Eight.
Will the underdog teams continue their Cinderella story, or will the top seeds claim their spot in the Final Four? The outcome is in your hands.
Important Voting Information
Voting will open on Mondays and close by noon on Thursdays until the tournament culminates on April 7.
