Gunderson, who serves as both the head brewer and head pizza chef, expressed that managing both responsibilities alongside his duties as a firefighter has become increasingly difficult. The brewery has faced staffing shortages in recent months, compounded by stiff competition from other employers in the area and a low unemployment rate.
“It’s come to the point where we’re not getting applications and we’re not filling the positions that are lost,” Gunderson stated.
While there are plans to reopen the kitchen in the future, Gunderson emphasized that it will remain closed until adequate staff can be hired. He remains hopeful that the kitchen will resume operations once staffing challenges are addressed.
Half Brothers Brewing Company, known for its craft beers and delicious pizzas, has become a staple in the Grand Forks community. Despite the temporary closure of its kitchen, the brewery will continue to offer its wide selection of beers to patrons.
