Restaurant Report Card: Harold’s Chicken Shack fails with 55; Brasiliana Pizza earns 100

by Emma

Harold’s Chicken Shack in College Park, Fulton County, recently failed a routine health inspection with only 55 points and received a “U” for unsatisfactory. The inspection report cited issues such as soiled residue in food containers, lack of proper food safety training for employees, and fresh rodent droppings in the storage area. Atlanta News First visited the restaurant and observed a piece of plywood covering the front door, with no one inside. Nearby business owners confirmed a rat problem, with surveillance video showing rats entering their establishments.

On a positive note, Burger King on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners, Gwinnett County, improved on a follow-up inspection and earned 99 points and an “A” grade. Meanwhile, Brasiliana Pizza on Glenwood Avenue in Southeast Atlanta received a perfect score of 100 on their last health inspection, earning them the Golden Spatula award for the week. The restaurant, owned by individuals from Sao Paulo, Brazil, imports certain ingredients like Brazilian cheese to create their dishes. Their menu includes items such as churros, mozzarella sticks, coxinha (chicken-filled pastries), various pies with unique ingredients, and dessert pies. The report suggests using a knife and fork to enjoy their pies due to the abundance of toppings. Overall, the restaurant is praised for its high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
