Plans Submitted for New Pizza Business on Southend Seafront

A fresh addition to Southend’s vibrant seafront may soon be on the horizon as plans have been submitted to the council for a new pizza restaurant and takeaway.

The proposed establishment, set to occupy the premises at 37 Eastern Esplanade, aims to transform a former vape shop into a bustling pizza hub. If greenlit by Southend Council, the revamped space will feature a kitchen and seating area, catering to patrons seeking both dine-in and takeaway options.

Details regarding the name of the pizza venture and whether it is part of a larger chain remain undisclosed at this stage.

Welcoming the proposal, Matt Dent, Labour councillor representing the Kursaal ward, expressed enthusiasm for the revitalization of vacant units. “It is far better to have them productive and serving a purpose than sitting there empty,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of a diverse culinary landscape along Southend’s renowned seafront. Dent highlighted the steady influx of visitors to the area, underscoring the significance of providing varied dining options.

The site, formerly occupied by the Puff DadE vape shop, reportedly ceased operations toward the end of 2023. Southend has witnessed a surge in dining and leisure offerings, with notable brands and independent eateries investing in the city center. Amidst this bustling culinary scene, plans for the proposed pizza establishment are set to undergo deliberation by Southend Council in the near future.
