SEAFORD, DE – Slingers Pizza and Grill has finally received the necessary permits to start repairing the restaurant, with work set to begin this week.
In March, a car crashed through the front wall of the establishment just before lunchtime, leaving the restaurant severely damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Sheena Andrew, co-owner of Slingers Pizza and Grill, shared the struggles the business has faced since the accident. “It was pretty detrimental for us emotionally, physically, mentally, and definitely financially. Once those doors open, we really hope that we have the community support then as well to help us get back on our feet,” she said.
For the past six months, Sheena and her co-owner, Shelly Andrew, have been waiting for permits from the city to begin repairs. They finally received them on August 20.
Initially, the owners hoped to reopen Slingers Pizza and Grill by October. However, due to the delays in the permitting process, they are now aiming to reopen by the end of the year.
“It was a three-and-a-half-month fight for our insurance process, so it’s been a pretty slow process for us. We are just hoping that once the ball gets rolling now that we have our permit, the process will speed up a bit. We are really hoping by the end of the year to have our doors back open,” Sheena added.
She also mentioned that the restaurant will have a fresh new look when it reopens, something she is eager for the Seaford community to see.
