Seven Bertoglio, the owner of Bertoglio’s Pizza in Yelm, suffered severe injuries in a motorcycle accident on August 25. He has since undergone three surgeries at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

According to Bertoglio’s wife, Cory, the latest surgery took place on September 6, focusing on his lower left tibia and fibula, which were fractured near the ankle. Cory reports that Bertoglio faces a lengthy recovery.

In response to the mounting medical expenses, Bertoglio’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign and is organizing a benefit event. This event will take place on September 22 at 1 p.m. at the Eatonville Eagles, located at 100 Weyerhaeuser Way N., Eatonville. This venue holds special significance as it is where Bertoglio initially began his pizza business.

The Hogue & Moore Band, known for hosting weekly open mic nights at Bertoglio’s Pizza, has also shown support. They dedicated their recent events to Bertoglio and raised $395 from patrons on August 28 to assist with his medical costs.

Jalita Bertoglio, Seven’s daughter-in-law, expressed her gratitude for the community’s support, noting their strong response since the accident. She highlighted the warmth and generosity of the community, especially during the recent open mic event.

Cory Bertoglio has been managing the pizza shop while frequently traveling to Seattle to visit her husband. Family members and Jalita have stepped in to help at the shop during this challenging time.

Cory described her state as feeling “numb and on autopilot” but noted that Seven is deeply moved by the community’s outpouring of support. Despite his gratitude, Seven feels sadness and guilt for the situation he has caused his family.

The benefit event on September 22 will feature live bands, a silent auction, a raffle, and a spaghetti dinner.

Darrin Hogue, guitarist for the Hogue & Moore Band, spoke fondly of Seven, describing him as a close friend and valued community member. Hogue emphasized the band’s efforts to support Bertoglio’s business, especially in the face of competition and the challenges posed by COVID-19.

Geoff Moore, the band’s singer, expressed appreciation for Seven’s friendship and his welcoming nature. Moore credited Bertoglio with creating a special space for the local music community.

Jason Johnson, the band’s percussionist, praised Seven for his dedication to providing a welcoming atmosphere for both guests and performers. He looks forward to the benefit event as an opportunity to give back to Bertoglio.

The community’s support for Seven Bertoglio continues to grow, reflecting his significant impact on those around him.
