This month’s Vivid Art Fest will feature large murals on three downtown buildings, including Gus’s Pizza. The Downtown Association board of directors announced the upcoming art installations this week.

The Community Art Project has selected three artists for the murals: Megan Oldhues will paint at Homespun Treasures next to Precious Blood Cathedral, Josh Morley will create a mural at the Holiday Inn Express, and Dino Bento will enhance the exterior of Gus’s Pizza at 146 Queen St. East.

Nicholas Luck, Executive Director of the Downtown Association, shared details about the Vivid Art Fest, which runs from September 20 to 22. The festival will include workshops, walking tours, concerts, multicultural markets, performances, and a film festival. Key venues for the festival include Downtown Plaza, Mane Street Café, the Art Hub at Spring, and the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.

The Vivid Art Fest, presented by Tenaris, is the new name for the previously known Summer Moon Festival. Since its inception, the Summer Moon Festival and the Community Art Project have resulted in 19 murals being painted in the downtown area, with 11 of those in Queenstown.
