Rudy’s, a well-known Manchester-based restaurant chain, is set to open a new location in Prestwich this December. To celebrate the launch, the pizzeria will give away 3,000 free Neapolitan pizzas.
The new restaurant will occupy the former Barclays Bank building on Bury New Road, which has been vacant for over two years. It will feature seating for 150 guests and a covered courtyard with 30 additional seats.
This opening aligns with ongoing regeneration efforts in the area. Earlier this year, the council approved a £100 million redevelopment plan for the Longfield Centre. The new layout will include a food hall similar to Mackie Mayor, providing communal seating and space for various food and drink vendors.
This will be Rudy’s first location in the northern part of Greater Manchester. The chain originally opened its flagship restaurant in Ancoats nearly ten years ago. The Prestwich branch will be the company’s 29th pizzeria in the UK, as it aims to expand its neighborhood concept into Manchester’s suburbs.
Neal Bates from Rudy’s expressed excitement about the opening, stating, “We can’t wait to re-open the doors of this previously unloved venue in Prestwich and share our passion for Neapolitan pizza with our North Manchester fans and future Rudy’s lovers!” He added that Prestwich’s vibrant community and lively high street make it an ideal location for their next venture.
The new restaurant is expected to create up to 40 jobs, including front-of-house staff and pizzaiolos. In keeping with its Italian roots, the venue will also feature a well-stocked bar offering Italian spritzes, Poretti lager, and classic cocktails.
