Cottage Inn, a Michigan-based chain known for gourmet pizza, has opened its first location in Kent County on Wealthy Street SE in Grand Rapids. The new store began serving customers Tuesday morning.
Co-owner JD Witherell expressed excitement about the new location, citing the energy and walkability of Eastown as key factors in their decision. “We love it here,” Witherell said. “This is our first franchise. We chose Grand Rapids to start, and Eastown is a great area with wonderful foot traffic.”
This is the first Cottage Inn in Kent County. The chain also has locations in Allendale and Kalamazoo, with plans to open another store on Grand Rapids’ west side.
Witherell highlighted Cottage Inn’s unique offerings, stating that all their ingredients, from the flour mixture to the cheese blend and sauce, are proprietary. “We have really good pizza and a great atmosphere. Our managers are excellent, and I believe our product is better than most pizza out there,” he said.
To celebrate its opening, the restaurant is offering specials, including medium cheese or pepperoni pizzas for $8. There are also free gifts and a chance to win free pizza for a year.
Cottage Inn currently operates over 50 stores in Michigan and Ohio and plans to expand further into the Midwest.
The Wealthy Street location is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to midnight and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. The store is also hiring for all positions, as noted on its Grand Rapids website.
