Gainesville is welcoming a variety of new dining spots, offering everything from authentic Indian cuisine to plant-based pizzas and unique brunch options. Among the newest additions to the local food scene are Indian Aroma, First Watch, and Wild Pie.
Here’s a look at what’s coming to town:
Indian Aroma
Indian Aroma opened its doors on Nov. 8 at 1310 SW 13th St., Suite A, in the space formerly occupied by Blue Gill, which recently relocated to Butler Town Center. The restaurant offers a range of authentic Indian dishes, including samosas, tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and roti.
Rajyalakshmi Tumati, the co-owner of Indian Aroma, says the restaurant is her first venture. She and her husband often traveled to cities like Tampa, Jacksonville, and Orlando to find the Indian food they loved but couldn’t get in Gainesville. This led Tumati to open her own restaurant in town.
“I’m a big foodie, and I missed having authentic Indian food here,” Tumati explained. “We would drive to other cities for our favorite dishes, like biryani, and we wanted to bring that here.”
After Blue Gill moved out of the space, Tumati says she fell in love with the location and quickly signed a lease. Her goal is to provide high-quality food and service to the Gainesville community at reasonable prices.
“We want to give the best food and best service to Gainesville,” she said. “We’re bringing authentic dishes from India, and we’re not compromising on quality.”
Indian Aroma also offers catering services and has a banquet space available for events and parties. The restaurant is planning a grand opening in about a week, with the bar expected to open within the next month.
Hours of Operation:
- Tuesday to Thursday: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
