A new fast-food innovation is turning heads in Caledonia: a 24-hour pizza kiosk serving hot pizzas on demand. This marks the first pizza kiosk in West Michigan, part of a growing trend across the U.S.
While pizza kiosks are common in Europe, with around 2,700 locations, the concept is still gaining traction in America, which has about 50 kiosks nationwide. Caledonia’s kiosk offers a variety of options, from classic cheese and pepperoni to breakfast pizzas.
Michael Schram, who owns the license for West Michigan’s kiosks, explained the simplicity of the process: “You touch the screen, order the pizza, and within four minutes, it’s hot and ready to go.”
According to Jason Lowder, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Forno, customers have two options. They can choose to take the pizza home to bake, or they can have it cooked right at the kiosk. “It rotates and cooks at the selected temperature for the product,” Lowder explained.
In less than four minutes, a freshly baked pizza slides out of the machine. For added convenience, customers can order and reserve pizzas in advance using the Pizza Forno app, holding their orders for up to eight hours.
Lowder noted that a crispier crust has been a hit in Michigan. “Michigan wants crispy pizza,” he said, adding that a crispier crust option has been included to meet local demand.
Looking ahead, Lowder says the pizza kiosk business is set to expand rapidly in the U.S., with plans to reach over 1,000 units by the end of 2025. Schram aims to install 40 additional kiosks in West Michigan over the next five years, making 24-hour pizza more accessible to everyone in the region.
