Rashida Dean’s journey from a kiosk at the Suva Market to the director of Zamzam Restaurant is one of continued growth and success. Dean, known for her tea, fried fish, and cassava, is now expanding her business by opening a new Middle Eastern and pizza section at Zamzam.
The new wing, located in Samabula, will offer a fresh menu and a unique dining experience. Dean says the restaurant will feature overseas chefs preparing dishes like kebabs, pizzas, and other Middle Eastern delicacies.
With 20 staff members already in place, Dean plans to hire an additional 15 employees to help run the new wing.
Dean, who has had a passion for cooking since childhood, has also noticed an increase in tourists visiting Zamzam since food vlogger Mark Wiens filmed a segment there last year.
For Dean, her children are her biggest motivation. “Everything I do is for them,” she says.
The new wing had a soft launch last night and is now open to the public.
