Fresh Brothers, a popular Southern California pizza chain, will soon expand outside the state after being acquired by Craveworthy Brands, a Chicago-based company, this week.
Craveworthy Brands, which manages 15 restaurant brands and operates 225 locations across the country, purchased Fresh Brothers.
Fresh Brothers, which opened its first location in California in 2008, currently has restaurants in cities such as Brentwood, Burbank, El Segundo, Hollywood, and Manhattan Beach. The chain plans to expand nationally through franchising.
Gregg Majewski, CEO of Craveworthy Brands, told the L.A. Times that Fresh Brothers will open locations in the Chicago area and begin franchising in other states by March. Additionally, the chain will continue to open more locations in California.
The expansion comes at a time when many fast-casual dining chains, such as Mod Pizza, Shake Shack, and Rubio’s Coastal Grill, have faced challenges like inflation and high labor costs, leading to downsizing or even bankruptcy. Fresh Brothers’ growth stands out in this tough environment.
