A woman shared her experience of planning her dream vegan wedding reception, which turned into a comedy of errors when guests chose pizza over the meticulously prepared vegan dishes.
The couple had spent around $15,000 to craft a premium five-course vegan menu that included mushroom Wellington, truffle risotto, and roasted vegetable tarts. However, things didn’t go as planned. Instead of enjoying the gourmet meal, the guests opted for pizza.
In a Reddit post, the bride, a 28-year-old woman, described her disbelief when her brother, Tom, and several cousins bought 20 large pizzas for the reception. They passed the pizzas around to guests, saying, “Real food for anyone who wants it!”
To make matters worse, Tom’s pizza delivery was praised by the mother-in-law, who posted on Facebook that the wedding was “saved by pizza,” accusing the bride of trying to “force everyone to eat rabbit food.” The bride, devastated, retreated to the bathroom in tears, while her husband was seen trying to send the delivery crew away.
Some questioned whether the couple had informed guests in advance about the vegan meal. One commenter suggested that the bride didn’t tell anyone about the menu, knowing they wouldn’t approve. Others shared their frustrations about the menu, with one user explaining that if they had known about the mushroom-heavy meal, they would have eaten beforehand.
Despite the overwhelming response, some users sympathized with the couple’s choice to offer a plant-based feast, acknowledging that taste is subjective and not everyone would appreciate the menu.
