Wylie Dufresne’s Stretch Pizza, located at 331 Park Avenue South in New York, is offering daytime pizza slices through December. The menu includes classic options like cheese, pepperoni, and pesto with vegetables (priced between $4 and $5), along with a luxurious $25 truffle slice. In addition, the pizzeria serves square pies for $8. Slices are available daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., both for dine-in and takeout. Dufresne is also planning to expand Stretch Pizza to Williamsburg.
Bryant Park Grill to Close After Nearly 30 Years
Bryant Park Grill, a 1,000-seat restaurant, is being pushed out by Bryant Park Corporation after nearly three decades in business. Dan Biederman, head of the corporation, mentioned at a Manhattan Community Board 5 meeting that some believe the restaurant has become “a little tired.” In response to the news, Ark Restaurants, which oversees Bryant Park Grill, launched a “Help Save Bryant Park Grill” campaign. Restaurateur Michael Weinstein expressed confusion at the meeting, stating, “Everything you’re asking for is already in place.” Reports from Crain’s New York and The New York Times suggest that renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten may take over the space. Former Casa Susanna Chef to Open New Restaurant in Jersey City
Mark Censits, the owner of CoolVines wine shop in New Jersey, is opening a new restaurant called Maxwell Alley at 12 Coles Street, Jersey City, in February 2025. The name refers to the area’s history as Maxwell Rope Walk, a place where nautical ropes were made. The restaurant will feature a seasonal rotating menu by chef Alex Tronstad, who previously worked under James Beard semifinalist Efrén Hernández at Casa Susanna. During the day, Maxwell Alley will also host Butler Cafe, which is currently located inside CoolVines Powerhouse.
New Dominican Bakery Opens in Brooklyn
Yesenia Rodriguez, a former Port Authority employee known for her Mason Jar desserts, has opened Sweets and Things, a Dominican bakery at 2715 Fulton Street, Brooklyn. The bakery offers 30 varieties of tres leches cakes and Dominican coffee.
