Donatos Pizza, known for its signature “edge-to-edge” toppings, is expanding to Flower Mound. The new location, at 1400 Long Prairie Rd. #160, is set to open on December 17.
Founded in Ohio in 1963 by Jim Grote, Donatos Pizza remains family-owned. The chain’s unique selling point is its crust, which is fully covered with toppings, eliminating plain crust edges—a feature that has gained loyal fans. Donatos offers a variety of pizzas, including veggie, four cheese, and pepperoni with hot honey. The menu also features thin-crust, thicker, and cauliflower crust options, with pizzas available in sizes from 7 inches to 14 inches. Prices range from $15 to $25.
In addition to pizza, the menu includes oven-baked wings, subs, and salads. Customers appreciate the fresh ingredients and the flavorful, crisp crust that distinguishes Donatos from other pizza chains.
The Flower Mound location will be owned by Lynne and Ralph Pence, with their son Travis managing day-to-day operations. The Pence family has strong ties to Donatos, as Lynne’s sister previously worked for the company. Lynne, originally from Columbus, Ohio, explained, “We’re from Columbus—it’s where our kids grew up and where Donatos Pizza was born.” The new store is the second Donatos location in the Dallas area, following the opening of a Frisco location in November.
Donatos currently has over 470 locations across 28 states, including 175 full stores and nearly 300 non-traditional locations, such as in Red Robin restaurants and sports venues.
