When Steven Oleksy’s pizza restaurant was facing tough times, he turned to social media for help. What happened next was something he never imagined, all thanks to a local Facebook group of moms.

Oleksy, who opened Planet Pizza in Plano over two years ago, is passionate about pizza but found his business struggling. Before turning to the pizza industry, he had worked as a mechanic in the Marines. However, despite his love for pizza, sales at Planet Pizza were not meeting expectations.

Rencently, during the dinner rush, Oleksy found himself with no customers at all. “It was kind of sad. I didn’t have a single customer,” he said.

Desperate for a solution, Oleksy posted a question on Facebook: “My competitors are super busy. What can I do for the community to drum up sales?”

The response was overwhelming, and it came from a group he hadn’t expected – a local Facebook group of suburban moms.

“We have great women in our community, and when they take a minute to lift up somebody else, everybody rallies around them,” Oleksy said. “If every community did this, the whole world would be a different place.”

The group’s support helped boost the restaurant’s visibility and brought in new customers, offering a lifeline to Oleksy during a difficult time.
