Elro, the popular pizzeria from chef Terrence Gallivan, will close at the end of the month.
The restaurant, which specializes in pizza and crudo, opened in June 2023 and quickly earned praise. It was named to the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 in both 2023 and 2024.
Gallivan opened Elro four years after closing The Pass & Provisions, a restaurant he ran with Seth Siegel-Gardner. The Pass & Provisions closed in 2019.
Elro’s name is a combination of Gallivan’s children, Eleanor and Ronan, who were often seen at the restaurant.
In her review, former Chronicle critic Alison Cook described the restaurant as “highly personal,” citing details like the vintage ’80s and ’90s music Gallivan once listened to and the charming flower-filled patio with blue moon-globe lights.
Elro will remain open during regular business hours through December 31. In an Instagram post, Gallivan expressed gratitude to the staff and guests for their support over the past year and a half.
