Stellina Pizzeria, a popular chain in the DMV area, has been recognized as one of the top artisan pizza chains in the world for 2024 by 50 Top Pizza, an esteemed Italian guide.
Co-owner Antonio Matarazzo expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “This award is a testament to the passion and hard work of our entire team.” He and chef Matteo Venini co-founded Stellina with the goal of bringing authentic Italian pizza to their customers. “We are honored to be included among such distinguished pizza artisans from around the globe,” Matarazzo added.
Stellina operates five locations, including restaurants in Shirlington and Tysons, and a pop-up at the Rosslyn food hall Upside on Moore. The pizzeria is known for its “neo-Neapolitan” pizzas, which take inspiration from traditional Neapolitan styles but experiment with fermentation, toppings, and ingredients.
The restaurant, which has earned Michelin recognition, is the second pizzeria in Arlington to receive an accolade from 50 Top Pizza. In 2023, A Modo Mio was named one of the organization’s “Best in the U.S.”
In addition to its signature pizzas, Stellina’s menu features Roman-inspired dishes such as fried artichokes, pasta, and a panino filled with fried octopus, burrata cheese, Calabrian peppers, and broccoli rabe. Customers can also shop for house-made pizza dough, pastas, sauces, meats, and cheeses at the market counter available at the Shirlington and Tysons locations.
