PizzaExpress, a well-known British pizza brand, has announced plans to enter the U.S. market in 2025. The brand, which is famous for its high-quality pizza and lively atmosphere, will first open a location in Florida.
Founded in the 1960s by entrepreneur Peter Boizot, PizzaExpress has built a reputation for offering “proper pizza” in a casual and inviting setting. The restaurant is known for its distinctive features, including black-and-white striped uniforms, marble tables, and open kitchens where Pizzaiolos (pizza chefs) prepare food. It also has a signature love of live music.
PizzaExpress is known for a wide variety of menu items, including fan favorites such as the Padana pizza with creamy goat’s cheese and caramelized onions, the La Reine pizza with ham, black olives, and mushrooms, and the lighter Leggera pizza, which features a refreshing salad-filled hole in the middle and contains a third fewer calories. The restaurant also offers a children’s menu called Piccolo and the American pizza, a pepperoni pizza that has become a favorite among fans.
The brand is partnering with Purple Square, a franchising group with experience in expanding brands, to bring its 60-year legacy to the U.S. market.
“We’re excited to bring the best of PizzaExpress to the U.S. with Purple Square as our partner,” said Chris Holmes, Chief Development Officer at PizzaExpress. “Together, we’ll offer a unique dining experience that combines delicious pizza with entertainment, creating a fun atmosphere for families, friends, and couples alike.”
PizzaExpress aims to raise the bar for pizza in the United States, combining high-quality food with an enjoyable dining experience. The Florida location will mark the brand’s first step in bringing its signature offerings to a new audience.
