If you love pizza and the beach, Pizzateca has the perfect combination for you. This week, the popular South Australian pizza spot is bringing its delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas to Silver Sands Beach in Aldinga for another summer pop-up season.
From December 27 to 30, Pizzateca will take over the beachside location, offering a limited menu of their traditional pizzas from 4 p.m. until sundown. This pop-up is a special event, distinct from their well-loved venue in McLaren Vale, which was recently awarded the title of best pizza in South Australia.
Past pop-up menus have included favorites like the Rosso (sugo, basil, oregano, garlic, olive oil), Rita (sugo, parmigiano, mozzarella, basil, olive oil), Salami (sugo, mozzarella, salami, chilli), and Bianca (mozzarella, mushroom, basil, garlic, truffle oil, pepper).
Along with the pizzas, Pizzateca’s pop-up offers a fully licensed bar where visitors can enjoy drinks while taking in the stunning coastline and sunsets. The bar will serve beer, wine, and cocktails, making it the perfect spot to relax by the sea.
For dessert, the pop-up will also feature a gelato bar serving traditional southern Italian gelati, ideal for cooling off on a summer evening.
Pizzateca’s return to Aldinga celebrates the origins of the restaurant, which first started as a pop-up in 2016 at Alpha Box and Dice before finding a permanent home in McLaren Vale. The pizzeria quickly gained a loyal following, known for its authentic, locally sourced ingredients like Virginia-grown Roma tomatoes. Their commitment to traditional Neapolitan techniques earned them a place on South Australia’s “delicious 100” list as the best pizza in the state in 2023.
Pizzateca’s pop-up in Aldinga has become a local favorite, drawing both beachgoers and food lovers alike. If you miss this week’s event, don’t worry—the pop-up will return in January 2025, operating Wednesdays through Sundays, including the Australia Day public holiday.
