A 22-year-old pizza delivery driver in Florida has been charged with multiple serious crimes after allegedly stabbing a woman 14 times over a $2 tip. In a shocking turn of events, the victim discovered she was pregnant while being treated for her injuries at a local hospital.
The incident occurred at a motel in Kissimmee, Florida, where the woman, her boyfriend, and their 5-year-old daughter were staying to celebrate a birthday. According to NBC News, the woman had ordered a pizza from Marco’s Pizza, costing approximately $33 (about Rs 2,800). She paid with a $50 bill (roughly Rs 4,300), but the delivery driver, Brianna Alvelo, reportedly did not have the necessary change. After searching for smaller denominations, the woman gave Alvelo a $2 tip (around Rs 170).
The situation escalated when the woman later heard a loud knock on the motel room door. When she opened it, a man and a woman, both wearing black clothing and masks, forced their way inside. The man reportedly pulled a silver revolver and ordered the woman’s boyfriend into the bathroom. The woman believed to be Alvelo then pulled out a pocketknife and began attacking her.
The victim, who was trying to protect her daughter, was stabbed 14 times in the chest, arms, legs, and abdomen. The attack also included Alvelo allegedly rummaging through the woman’s purse and damaging her daughter’s Nintendo Switch.
The woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and, unexpectedly, learned that she was pregnant.
Alvelo has been charged with attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. A man who was reportedly with her at the time has not been identified. Alvelo is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail on a $55,000 (approximately Rs 47,05,000) bail, though no attorney is listed on her behalf.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and further details are awaited.
