Tandoori Pizza, a Bay Area-based chain, will open its first Sacramento-area restaurant in the spring of 2025. The new location will be in the Laguna Gateway shopping center in Elk Grove, pending permit approvals.
Brandon Singh, a UC Davis graduate and Elk Grove resident since 2007, is partnering with Amrit Singh to bring the pizza chain to his hometown. Brandon will co-franchise and manage the new Elk Grove store.
Having enjoyed Tandoori Pizza for years, Brandon recalls frequent visits to the Tracy location, the nearest to Elk Grove, as well as other Bay Area stores in San Ramon, San Jose, and Union City.
“When I was younger, we would always eat at Tandoori Pizza and bring it home from one of the Bay Area locations,” Brandon said. “We saw the growth in Elk Grove, and we really wanted to bring Tandoori Pizza here. Now, we’re excited to introduce these bold flavors to the city.”
Amrit Singh has owned the Tracy location since its opening in 2018. He is also related to Tejinder Singh, the founder of Tandoori Pizza, who opened the first location in Dublin in 2015. Amrit became involved with the franchise when the Tracy store opened.
“Brandon has always been drawn to Tandoori Pizza’s flavors and wanted to bring these unique spices and sauces to his hometown,” said Amrit Singh.
The Laguna Gateway shopping center, located off Highway 99 near Laguna Boulevard and West Stockton Boulevard, is anchored by popular stores such as Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Home Depot, and Old Navy. An REI Co-Op store will also be opening soon.
“We’re really excited about the Laguna center,” Amrit said. “It’s conveniently located near the freeway, close to both businesses and residential areas.”
Tandoori Pizza already received a warm reception in the Sacramento area after hosting a pop-up booth at a Sacramento Kings game in March 2024. The booth sold out before halftime, encouraging the team to expand into the region.
“We knew we wanted to bring this to Elk Grove,” Amrit said. “With the city growing and the increasing population, it seemed like the perfect location for our first Sacramento-area store.”
The menu at Tandoori Pizza offers both traditional pizzas and Indian-Italian fusion options. Indian-inspired pizzas include curry chicken, chicken tikka, and tandoori chicken, while more traditional options include pepperoni, vegetarian, all-meat combo, and Margherita.
The menu also features popular items such as tandoori wings and Achari wings, both seasoned with Indian spices.
The Elk Grove location is part of Tandoori Pizza’s expansion into the Sacramento market. Since Tejinder Singh opened the first store in Dublin, the chain has expanded to several locations throughout California. In 2024, the brand opened eight new locations, including two in Philadelphia and New York City. Other California locations include Concord, Sunnyvale, Foster City, Fresno, and Rancho Cucamonga.
