Tucker’s Farm Corp., an investment firm based in New York, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Pizza Factory Inc., a 110-unit franchise brand based in Oakhurst, California. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pizza Factory will join Tucker’s Farm’s Wonder Franchises division, which was launched in 2023 and is backed by $30 million in capital. Wonder Franchises also includes brands like V/O Med Spa, which was sold last year, and The Décor Group, a holiday decorating franchise.
Founded in 1979 by Danny Wheeler and Ron Willey, Pizza Factory generates approximately $94 million in system sales. Of its 110 locations, 84 are franchised. CEO Mary Jane Riva, who has led the company since 2012, will continue to serve as CEO under the new ownership.
Riva expressed her confidence in the new partnership, saying, “I chose Wonder because I felt they were the partner that could help improve and grow the system while taking good care of the brand and franchisees.”
Pizza Factory is known for its hand-tossed pizzas and a variety of menu options including wings, pasta, sandwiches, salads, and beverages like beer and wine. The brand operates several restaurant formats, including an Express model.
Adam Lewin, a partner at Tucker’s Farm and CEO of Wonder Franchises, highlighted the brand’s stability and community-focused culture. He said, “We’re excited to work with MJ and her team to take Pizza Factory to the next level.”
Boxwood Partners acted as the financial advisor to Wonder Franchises and Tucker’s Farm, while Lathrop GPM served as legal counsel. The Montminy Group was the financial advisor to Pizza Factory, with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner providing legal counsel.
