Though Manhattan is 2,000 miles away, New York City’s iconic pizza has found its way to Colorado.
In the last 25 years, the signature New York pizza, known for its crispy, chewy crust, has spread across the U.S., including Denver and Boulder, according to The New York Times.
One standout is Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage in Boulder, which earned praise from the NYT for its “great slice.”
Brooklyn’s Roberta’s also recently opened a location in Denver at the Urban Cowboy Public House.
The influence of Manhattan’s pizza continues to grow in Denver. The PZA, a new addition in the Art District on Santa Fe, combines East Coast attitude with Italian style. After operating out of a rented kitchen at the Tight End, it reopened as its own takeout and delivery spot.
Owner and chef Jake Rothy describes his approach: “The way I do the dough is a little more old-world, like Neapolitan—but the execution, the vibe, is definitely East Coast,” he told Westword.
In addition to these spots, other pizzerias in Colorado offering a taste of New York include Redeemer, SliceWorks, and Fat Sully’s in Denver, Rosalee’s in Longmont, Original Pizza in Broomfield, and Big Bill’s in Centennial.
