If you love pizza strips and vodka, a new drink might be the perfect combination.
Industrious Spirit Company (ISCO), a Providence-based distillery, has introduced what is believed to be the first-ever pizza strip vodka. The spirit is called “Li’l Rhody Pizza Strip,” and it honors a beloved Rhode Island dish.
The vodka is made from 100% organic wheat, real pizza strips from Pizza J, and spices from The Ocean State Pepper Company.
“We’ve had a great time working on this project,” said Manya Rubinstein, CEO of ISCO. “Our company values sustainable sourcing and creating products that reflect where we come from. Li’l Rhody Pizza Strip does both: it uses organic wheat and celebrates the fun, lively spirit of Rhode Island.”
This new vodka joins other ISCO products, such as Ostreida Oyster Vodka and Seaflow Ocean Gin.
Co-head distiller Dan Neff described the spirit as having an herbal blend of oregano and marjoram, followed by flavors of garlic, tomato, fresh bread, and Italian herbs. The finish is described as comforting and lightly herbal.
Early fans of the vodka have already created a drink called the “Italian Stallion” shot. It involves licking shredded cheese, taking a shot of Li’l Rhody Pizza Strip, and then eating a pickled pepperoncini pepper.
ISCO is also working on a pizza vodka that includes cheese for those who enjoy a more traditional pizza flavor.
The distillery will host a launch party for the new vodka on February 6 from 5 to 10 p.m.
