Papa John’s Pizza has officially opened its doors in Fields Corner after a lengthy two-year permitting and construction process.
Joe Johnson, who co-owns the store with his wife Rolanda and partner David Rothman, shared a positive outlook. “So far, so good,” he said.
Operating partner Charles Tabb expressed excitement over the response from the local community. “The reception has been phenomenal. We’ve heard from a lot of residents and neighbors, and they’re excited we are here. We’re happier to be here,” Tabb said.
Johnson, who has strong ties to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester, has made substantial contributions to the organization. Last year, he donated $10,000 to the club, and this year, he pledged 100 percent of the first week’s profits. “We’ve got a great connection to the Boys and Girls Club, and I was a club kid growing up,” Johnson explained. “We have a lot of ways we can grow that partnership with them.”
In addition to the financial support, the store features artwork from the BGCD Art Program. Paintings by local artists Ashley Sandoval, Miya G., and Leomana Addo Fung are displayed in the store on Dorchester Avenue.
