Toronto’s already diverse food scene has just been elevated with the debut of a new fusion restaurant, B-Town Pizza. Located near Dundas subway station, the pizzeria offers a unique blend of Italian and Indian cuisines, combining traditional pizza with bold Indian spices and marinated meats.
Unlike typical pizza varieties, B-Town Pizza’s menu features inventive dishes such as paneer tikka pizza, tandoori paneer pizza, chicken tikka pizza, and butter chicken pizza, alongside classic options like pepperoni.
The concept was brought to life by Inder Brar and Honey, the visionary owners behind the restaurant. Brar, who moved to Canada over a decade ago, noticed a lack of diverse food options in smaller cities like Peterborough, where Indian cuisine was especially scarce.
“I realized there weren’t many places for Indian food or unique restaurants,” Brar said. His interest in fusion cuisine sparked when he and a friend decided to experiment by topping a pizza with leftover curry and fresh vegetables. “It was a game changer,” he recalled.
Brar’s culinary journey continued in Belleville, where he worked at Extreme Pita. There, he further developed his concept of Indian-inspired pizzas. “I wanted to turn my idea into a reality and open my own pizza store,” Brar said. After months of perfecting sauces and toppings, B-Town Pizza was born.
The restaurant’s standout feature is its use of authentic Indian spices, marinated tandoori chicken, paneer, and butter chicken sauce. Brar emphasizes the balance of heat and aromatics, crafting a flavor profile that transports diners back to India, with a fun pizza twist.
All pizzas at B-Town Pizza are made with freshly prepared dough and in-house sauces. In addition to their signature pizzas, the restaurant has introduced heart-shaped pies for Valentine’s Day and fusion dishes like butter chicken poutine and paneer tikka poutine.
B-Town Pizza’s first location opened in Brampton at 8975 McLaughlin Road South, and its Toronto spot offers a convenient opportunity to sample these innovative creations without the commute.
B-Town Pizza is an exciting new addition to Toronto’s culinary landscape, offering a fusion of two beloved cuisines in an entirely new way.
