Ava Rae’s Pizzeria and Pub is set to open soon in Johnson County, bringing fresh pizza and a welcoming atmosphere to the community. The restaurant, located at 11168 S. Lone Elm Road in Olathe, is expected to start serving customers in early January.
Bar manager Lindsay Rutten hopes the new pizzeria will quickly become a favorite among families in the neighborhood. The restaurant’s logo features a playful illustration of a little girl, Ava Rae, and her dog, Dexter, both wearing chef hats — a nod to owner Darrin Debok’s daughter and their family dog.
“We’ve had so much support from our family, friends, and even strangers,” Rutten shared. “Our slogan is all about ‘community, family, and local.’”
Ava Rae’s is committed to supporting local heroes and plans to offer discounts for members of the Olathe Fire Department, Olathe Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, and Olathe Public Schools staff. The restaurant is conveniently located across from Olathe Northwest High School and has already staffed up in anticipation of its opening.
“We want all our staff to feel like family,” Rutten said.
Debok, the majority owner, is teaming up with part-owner Brent Standridge to bring the pizzeria to life. Although the menu remains under wraps for now, Rutten confirmed that many dishes will be based on cherished family recipes. The restaurant will also feature craft beers, cocktails, and bar seating, with a space that can accommodate up to 64 guests.
In related news, Kansas City’s Pizza 51 is preparing to move to downtown Olathe at 200 S. Kansas Ave. The pizzeria is expected to open in spring 2025.
