A food content creator has sparked a lively debate on social media after sharing an unconventional kitchen hack for reheating leftover pizza.
Bec Hardgrave revealed that she had come across a tip suggesting that dunking pizza in water before reheating it in an air fryer or microwave would make it taste as fresh as when it was first purchased. Initially skeptical, Hardgrave decided to give the hack a try and was surprised by the results.
“It felt so wrong to dunk my pizza in water, but I gave it a shot,” Hardgrave said. After three minutes in the air fryer, she noted the pizza crust was noticeably crispier and the flavor was nearly identical to the previous night’s meal. “I highly recommend trying that hack,” she added.
The video quickly went viral, drawing a range of reactions from viewers. Some expressed disbelief, with one user writing, “JAIL.” Others were more enthusiastic, with comments like, “I still don’t believe you,” and “I reheat in a sandwich press, extra crunchy base.”
One commenter even joked, “This feels illegal, I love it.” Another shared a more practical tip: “Reheating in a pan with a lid makes pizza taste FAR better than the night before. The bottom gets super crispy and the top is all melted.”
Despite the mixed responses, Hardgrave found the feedback to be generally positive. “Some people think I’m making it up or that dunking pizza in water is a crime,” she said, adding that many viewers shared their own creative reheating techniques, some of which she had never considered.
This is not the first viral food hack to catch attention. Sydney-based teacher Katie Lolas also gained popularity for her series of kitchen tips, particularly one that promised to revive dry, stale bread. In a video hailed as a “game-changer,” Lolas demonstrated how to restore bread to its fresh, crunchy state using just water, a warm oven, and six minutes of baking time.
“You’ll have a good-as-new loaf: Moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside,” Lolas said, encouraging viewers to give it a try.
