f the mere mention of math brings back uncomfortable memories, consider Pi Day—a far more enjoyable way to engage with numbers. Pi Day, celebrated annually on March 14, honors the mathematical constant pi (approximately 3.14159), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. For obvious reasons, it is particularly popular in bakeries and pizzerias, and this year, it will also serve as a day of giving.
At Time Square Pizzeria in Suntree, 10% of the afternoon’s proceeds—spanning 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—will benefit Angels in the Attic, a local charity supporting St. Paul’s Anglican Church. The thrift store provides valuable community resources, and owner Soli Castellon says it was chosen because of its effectiveness. “We wanted to make the day fun, but also impactful for the local community,” Castellon shared.
Brevard’s Festival Scene Heats Up
Brevard County, affectionately referred to by some as “Festival County,” continues to offer an exciting array of cultural events. The 58th Annual Grant Seafood Festival, the longest-running festival of its kind in the Southeast, will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 1, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 2 at 4580 First St., Grant-Valkaria. The festival will feature over 150 artists, live entertainment, and, of course, an abundance of seafood. Admission and parking are free, making it an ideal outing for all.
Meanwhile, the Florida Strawberry Festival is another popular event on the horizon. Held in Plant City, the festival will be a must-visit for residents of Palm Bay and beyond, with a group trip departing at 6 a.m. on March 3 from the Greater Palm Bay Senior Activity Center. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample delicious strawberries and enjoy the charm of the local farmers who grow them. The cost for the trip is $145.
