The owners of Pier Front Pizzeria in Portarlington are facing a difficult path ahead after a devastating fire completely destroyed their beloved pizza shop early Wednesday morning. Firefighters from several units responded to the scene, and after more than two hours, the fire was brought under control. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media late Wednesday, the management expressed their sorrow and reassured the community that they will rebuild, though the timeline for reopening remains uncertain.
“It is with a sad and heavy heart that I announce that the fire has totally destroyed Pier Front Pizzeria in the early morning (Wednesday),” the statement read.
The post also included gratitude for the emergency services, staff, customers, and friends who have offered support during this challenging time.
“Unfortunately, all our bookings and prior arrangements are cancelled as we work through the process and plan for moving forward,” the statement continued. “We will post any updates through our social media and encourage you to continue to support our town in any way.”
While the owners are determined to return, they acknowledged the uncertainty of the situation, stating, “Pier Front will be back, but it’s too hard to say when at this stage.”
They concluded by thanking the community for their messages, calls, texts, and encouragement as they navigate through this difficult and unknown time.
