Marco’s Pizza, one of the fastest-growing pizza chains in the U.S., is making its highly anticipated debut in the Philadelphia market. The pizza brand has signed a two-unit area development agreement, marking the beginning of its expansion into the vibrant and untapped Philadelphia region. Industry veteran Jack Praizner, who brings over 20 years of pizza experience, will lead the expansion, opening the first location in Bethlehem in Q3 2025, followed by a second in Whitehall by Q4 2025.
Praizner, a seasoned operator with a history in the pizza industry, is enthusiastic about Marco’s potential in Philadelphia. He began his career as a 15-year-old employee at Domino’s and eventually became a multi-unit franchisee, owning 12 Domino’s locations before selling them in 2021. Praizner was drawn to Marco’s for its high-quality product, modern store design, and strong corporate support. He views Philadelphia as a “blank canvas” with significant growth potential and is eager to bring Marco’s to the community, with a vision that extends beyond just opening stores.
“After years in the pizza business, I knew exactly what I was looking for in my next venture: a brand with great growth potential and a product that stands out,” said Praizner. He’s also focused on mentoring district managers, preparing them to become future franchise owners, and fostering a culture of empowerment and entrepreneurship in the region.
Marco’s Pizza has experienced rapid growth and has become a significant player in the pizza industry. In the 2023 fiscal year, the top 50% of Marco’s franchised stores averaged net royalty sales of $1.2 million. The brand’s development support system includes tools for identifying expansion territories, assistance with real estate and construction management, and guidance on financing.
Praizner’s commitment to the Philadelphia market is bolstered by Marco’s proven franchise model. With over 1,200 locations in 35 states, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and Mexico, Marco’s has earned multiple accolades, including being named America’s Favorite Restaurant in the Limited-Service Pizza category by Nation’s Restaurant News and ranking No. 2 in the pizza category by FRANdata in 2024.
Marco’s Pizza’s expansion into Philadelphia marks an exciting chapter in the brand’s growth and solidifies its position as a leader in the pizza industry, poised to bring its beloved menu and customer service to new communities.
