Wrecktangle Pizza, a popular Twin Cities-based pizza chain once named “America’s Best Pizza,” is expanding its footprint with a new outpost in Duluth. The local chain will set up shop inside Wild State Cider, with construction of a production kitchen underway. The new kitchen will be attached to the cidery’s taproom, enhancing the brewery’s offerings and solidifying its place as a popular destination in town.
The addition will feature Wrecktangle’s signature Detroit-style pizzas, 12 cider taps, THC-infused drinks, and Camp Creemee’s Vermont-style soft serve ice cream. Wild State promises that the new addition won’t interfere with beloved features like its dog-friendly patio and children’s play area, ensuring that the taproom’s atmosphere remains unchanged.
Wrecktangle will also preview its offerings with a food truck event on April 12–13, setting up outside the cidery to give Duluth customers a taste of what’s to come.
Since its humble beginnings in 2019 inside a food hall, Wrecktangle Pizza has rapidly grown. The chain now operates a stand-alone restaurant at Lyndale Avenue and Lake Street, a location in the Malcolm Yards food hall, and a counter at the Palace Theatre. Additionally, Wrecktangle is expanding its presence in the Graze Food Hall by Travail with a new concept called Wrad Pizza.
Two years ago, Wrecktangle garnered nationwide attention when it was crowned “Best Pizza in America” by a Good Morning America contest, further boosting its popularity and growth.
