The grand opening of Freshslice, a popular Canadian pizza chain, in Oliver on February 21, 2025, attracted large crowds and long lines, with about 300 customers celebrating the store’s arrival in the South Okanagan town.
Despite the store’s planned 10:30 a.m. opening, eager customers began lining up as early as 8:00 a.m. to get a taste of Freshslice pizza. According to Ajay Sharma, the store’s owner and manager, many local high school students were among the first to arrive in hopes of scoring free pizza.
To add to the excitement, the store offered special prizes to the first 30 customers. The first 10 in line won pizza for a year, valued at approximately $280, while the next 10 received an extra-large pizza each. The final group of 10 lucky winners earned two slices and a drink.
“The crowd was extremely excited,” Sharma said. “They were cheering ‘Freshslice!’ as they claimed their prizes.”
In addition to serving the local community, the new Freshslice location will offer delivery services within Oliver. The store is also partnering with the Too Good To Go app, providing discounted pizza through leftover options, contributing to the reduction of food waste.
With such a strong showing on opening day, Freshslice has quickly established itself as a popular new addition to Oliver’s dining scene.
