A new Pizza Hut and coffee shop are set to be constructed on the current site of the East Manhattan Pizza Hut, according to franchisee Greg Shelton, CEO of MJC Huts. Shelton announced that construction will begin before the end of March, with plans to build the new structure in the parking lot just east of the existing Pizza Hut location. This approach will allow the restaurant to continue operating during the construction phase without disruption.
The new establishment will be a free-standing DELCO (delivery and carryout only) model, which Shelton explained will not feature dine-in options. “It’ll have no dine-in service and will be focused entirely on delivery and carryout,” Shelton said. “It’s going to be pretty much a mirror image of what we built in 2020 out on Kimball.” This design mirrors the successful delivery-only concept that Pizza Hut implemented in other locations, designed to meet growing consumer demand for convenience and quick service.
Shelton also discussed the business strategy behind the new building, stating that the dine-in model continues to be successful for Pizza Hut in smaller markets, but the delivery/carryout format has proven to be more effective in larger markets. “In a larger market like East Manhattan, the DELCO model offers greater efficiency and the ability to serve more customers quickly,” he explained.
The new Pizza Hut location will also include a coffee shop, a new addition to the area that aims to complement the pizza and delivery service with a relaxing space for customers to enjoy their beverages on the go. Shelton highlighted that the coffee shop is expected to attract both regular customers and new visitors, further enhancing the overall appeal of the new venue.
The development marks a significant step in Pizza Hut’s expansion strategy, as the company adapts to changing consumer preferences and embraces models that cater to the increasing demand for delivery and carryout options. Shelton emphasized the importance of innovation and flexibility in responding to market needs and is confident the new concept will resonate with local customers.
With construction set to begin soon, Pizza Hut and its new coffee shop concept are poised to provide an upgraded, convenient dining experience for East Manhattan residents and visitors alike.
