Tank’s Pizza, a popular Eastside pizzeria in San Antonio, is serving up delicious and affordable meals, including a personal cheese pizza priced at just $6.99. Located on North New Braunfels Avenue, just east of downtown, the restaurant has been a local favorite since its establishment in 2011.
On a recent Thursday afternoon, I decided to visit Tank’s Pizza, eager to try their personal pizza for my weekly column. Upon entering, I struck up a friendly conversation with Reg, the manager on duty. After mentioning my $10 Taste challenge, Reg eagerly recommended several items priced under $10 for me to sample.
My first dish was the mozzarella sticks, which come in an order of six for $6.99. These were perfectly melted, with gooey cheese that stretched delightfully as I pulled them apart. Served with a marinara dipping sauce, topped with a mix of herbs and spices, the mozzarella sticks made for a satisfying appetizer.
Next, Reg brought out the pepperoni pizza bread for $7.99. This hearty rectangular pizza was topped with pepperoni and served with a side of red sauce. It was substantial enough to serve as a meal on its own, and I quickly realized it was a filling option.
Finally, I sampled the dish that brought me to Tank’s in the first place: the personal cheese pizza, priced at $6.99. I added pepperoni and mushrooms as toppings for $1 each. By this point, I was nearing my limit but managed to pack up my eight-slice pizza along with my other leftovers to take home and evaluate later.
At home, I reheated a slice of the personal pizza and was immediately impressed by its robust flavor. The combination of crispy crust, melted cheese, and savory toppings created a truly satisfying bite. Though I may have indulged a bit more than I intended, my husband was more than happy to help finish the leftovers.
Tank’s Pizza continues to deliver affordable, flavorful meals perfect for a quick bite without breaking the bank, proving that great taste doesn’t always have to come with a hefty price tag.
