The competition has heated up in the 2025 Best Pizza in Sarasota-Manatee Challenge, and after several rounds of intense voting, the field has finally been narrowed down to two contenders. Earlier in the contest, we presented the top 10 pizza restaurants from Sarasota and Manatee counties and kicked off a March Madness-style Sweet 16 bracket, giving pizza enthusiasts the chance to have their say. The third round saw some tough competition, but in the end, the final two restaurants emerged.
The Championship Game will feature Bella Napoli versus Tralia, two spots that each offer something unique in the world of pizza. The winner will be revealed on Monday, April 7 — the same day as the NCAA championship game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The stakes are high, and the pizza passion is even higher.
Bella Napoli is a relatively new addition to the Sarasota pizza scene, but it’s already making waves. This downtown Sarasota restaurant, which opened on Main Street, brings authentic Neapolitan pizza to the area with Chef Cesare Di Iorio at the helm. Di Iorio, formerly of Osteria 500, uses traditional methods and a wood-fired oven to create exceptional pies that capture the essence of Italian pizza-making. Bella Napoli’s dedication to authenticity and quality has made it a standout in the competition.
On the other hand, Tralia is known for its bold and flavorful approach to pizza. Starting as a popular pop-up, Tralia now operates a brick-and-mortar location in Gulf Gate where it serves sourdough-based Detroit-style square pizzas alongside equally impressive thin-crust round pies. Tralia’s unique twist on classic pizza has earned it a loyal following, and its innovative take on the Detroit-style pizza has been a big hit with locals.
