Ace Pizza, the popular residency at The Pembury Tavern, is taking a significant step forward by opening its first permanent location just off Victoria Park. Helmed by Rachel Jones, Ace Pizza has garnered a loyal following with its unique take on pizza, now dubbed the “London-style pizza.”
Jones’ innovative pizza style blends the chewy, charred qualities of Neapolitan dough with the structure and foldability of a New York slice. This distinctive approach was influenced by her travels to Italy to visit her aunt and was first introduced through her venture Capish? at KERB before evolving into Ace Pizza.
The new pizzeria’s menu features 48-hour fermented dough, offering a range of creative pies alongside the traditional Margherita. Highlights include:
Honey Pie: Fior di latte, spicy salami, fennel seeds, guindilla chillies, and a drizzle of chilli honey.
Clapton Cowboy: A vegan option topped with plant-based Texas “beef,” jalapeños, pickled pink onions, and a chipotle ranch drizzle.
Vodka Marg: Vodka sauce, housemade pesto, and Gran Moravia cheese, with an optional pepperoni topping.
In addition to pizzas, the menu includes pizza sandwiches, slow-cooked Dexter beef meatballs in marinara sauce, and a classic Caesar salad. For dessert, diners can enjoy a rotating selection of soft serve ice cream with various toppings. To complement the food, the drink menu features Chilli Honey Margaritas, and beers from Five Points Brewery.
Ace Pizza’s new location occupies the former site of Fish House on Lauriston Road. The revamped space draws inspiration from 1980s nostalgia, combining a Mid-Century Modern aesthetic with the vibe of a classic disco diner. The venue is set to be a hit with both local residents and visitors to the park, offering a welcoming space to enjoy delicious, London-inspired pizza.
