The “Final Four” is here in The Greenville News’s March Madness Upstate: Pizza Edition, where voters will help determine the top pizza spot in the region. This competition, inspired by the excitement of March Madness 2025—the annual NCAA college basketball tournament—has drawn significant attention, and after an intense second round with over 2,700 votes cast, we’re down to the final four contenders.
In 2024, Soby’s claimed the title of the Upstate’s favorite shrimp and grits, and this year, the bracket voters will help crown the best pizzeria across Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties.
The tournament will run from March 17 to April 8, with matchups advancing each week. The winner will be declared on April 14. Here’s a look at this week’s “Final Four” matchups:
Myles Pizza
Known for its unique take on pizza, Myles Pizza offers a thick, hearty crust with toppings baked beneath the cheese. While the pizza resembles a deep-dish style, it’s not just about thickness—it’s about the abundance of toppings and rich flavors. Myles Pizza delivers an experience for those with big appetites and a love for hearty, flavorful pies.
Frankie’s NY Pizza
True to its name, Frankie’s NY Pizza brings authentic New York-style pies to the Upstate. Known for its crispy crust and perfect balance of cheese, Frankie’s offers a variety of pizzas, from the white ricotta to the Jenny-style (Hawaiian) and Charlotte (veggie) to cheesesteak. These pizzas avoid excess oil while maintaining a satisfying, crispy texture that fans crave.
Sidewall Pizza
Inspired by New Haven-style pizza, Sidewall has put its own spin on the beloved pie, crafting each pizza with homemade dough, sauce, and dressing. With locations in Greenville and the original spot in Travelers Rest (T.R.), Sidewall is a must-try for fans of thin-crust pizza. The Greenville location, in particular, has become a favorite among locals.
Bada Bing Pizza
Bada Bing Pizza, owned by George Hartosilax for the past eight years, is known for its classic New York-style pizza. With homemade dough, tomato-based sauces, and Grande-style cheese, Bada Bing continues the tradition of great pizza in a historic building. The menu is focused on flavor consistency and quality, making it a go-to for anyone seeking classic, no-frills New York pizza.
As the competition heats up, voters will determine which of these four pizza spots earns the title of Upstate’s best. Be sure to cast your vote in this thrilling pizza showdown!
