A new Italian dining destination, Bianchi Pizza & Pasta, is set to open its doors next month in San Diego’s vibrant Mission Beach neighborhood. Located at 998 West Mission Bay Drive, the authentic Neapolitan-inspired restaurant will debut in late May 2025, following the success of Dockside 1953, the Bahia Resort Hotel’s first dining venue, which opened last year.
Bianchi promises to bring a true taste of Italy to San Diego, offering a menu crafted by renowned Chef Ignazio Tagliavia, who is known for his expertise in Neapolitan cuisine. The restaurant will feature wood-fired, artisanal pizzas made with the finest ingredients, alongside specialty pasta dishes and a selection of traditional Italian appetizers. Tagliavia’s creations will be complemented by an extensive beverage program that includes signature Italian cocktails, carefully curated to enhance the flavors of the menu.
The restaurant will boast both indoor and outdoor dining options, including a cozy indoor space and an inviting al fresco patio. For those seeking a more intimate experience, there will also be a lively 12-seat bar. Benjamin Dunn, the resort’s food and beverage director, will assist Tagliavia in bringing the vision to life, combining classic Italian cooking techniques with an array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails.
Chef Ignazio Tagliavia, an award-winning pizzaiolo from Palermo, brings a wealth of experience to Bianchi, including training at the prestigious Pizza News School in Bartletta, Italy. Having previously worked at Elvira in San Diego, Tagliavia is celebrated for his deep passion for Neapolitan cuisine and his creative approach to traditional Italian dishes. With a career that spans national pizza competitions and renowned kitchens, he is dedicated to delivering a memorable dining experience that showcases the authenticity and soul of Italian culinary traditions.
The Bahia Resort Hotel, which opened in 1953, has long been a staple of San Diego’s waterfront tourism scene. Located on a 14-acre peninsula, the resort features 313 rooms, including beachfront cottages and bayfront suites, all surrounded by lush landscaping. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining experiences, from the California coastal cuisine at Dockside 1953, to quick bites at the Airstream Grab’ N Go cafe, and casual poolside dining at the Pool Bar & Grill during the warmer months. The Bahia Resort remains a cherished local landmark, offering a blend of vintage charm and modern amenities in a serene bayside setting.
As the newest addition to the Bahia Resort’s offerings, Bianchi Pizza & Pasta is set to become a must-visit destination for food lovers seeking an authentic Italian experience in the heart of Mission Beach.
